Episode 31 | Interview with Diego Gutierrez

We are back with episode 31, talking all about soccer during my interview with Diego Gutierrez!  After an interesting and long hiatus, I am so grateful for your patience and I promise my long absence will be well worth it!  I’ll be explaining what I’ve been up to in the coming weeks, but the wait is finally over!  Futbol with CRAZY Manny is ready to start bringing you more CRAZY Futbol content!

Who Is Diego Gutierrez?

So who is Diego Gutierrez?  First, I need to explain.  As you all know, we had this crazy COVID-19 thing come up recently.  Because of that, I was a little late to posting this – (don’t hate me Diego, ha!).  This episode was recorded at the end of February, 2020, therefore making a couple of things in the episode now inaccurate.  The Thunderdome Futsal tournament has already taken place.  Also, I’m happy to say that Diego has officially transferred from UNO to Creighton University!  He will be playing soccer for the Bluejays next fall – congratulations Diego!!!!

Make sure to catch this episode that’s all about the life of Diego!  We discussed family, the many reasons he loves soccer and is passionate about the sport, the mentality of a player and some of his favorite teams.  On the local level, we touch on his experience playing for Ralston and Class B vs. Class A, some of our thoughts on what’s needed here in Nebraska regarding soccer, and of course, who will win the Champions League?!  Ha!  Diego recently played on my Indoor Semi-Professional team, the Omaha Kings FC.  We just finished our winter Indoor season with the PASL, and have just started our Futsal league.  We hope to have him back again next year!

Diego Gutierrez has definitely been a lot of fun to follow!  He will be a local legend that I’m excited to watch grow!  The mentality and passion for soccer is there, and he has what it takes to keep going.  Make sure to follow and support him by checking out the links below!

Episode 17 | Interview with Marlon Emmanuel, Founder of My Destinati: Omaha International Soccer Academy

Interview with Marlon Emmanuel, Founder of My Destinati: Omaha International Soccer Academy

Today I sit down with the founder of My Destinati: Omaha International Soccer Academy, Marlon Emmanuel, and discuss his work with the non-profit organization. Marlon is such a special guy to the Omaha community.  He came here from Nigeria in 2009 and is just as passionate about soccer as I am.   We discuss the similarities of how much our home countries are alike when it comes to the game of soccer because the passion and the way we think about it are almost identical.

My Destinati: Omaha International Soccer Academy

His organization, My Destinati: Omaha International Soccer Academy, is near and dear. They aim to develop leaders through soccer by teaching them recreational skills that will drive success in their lives. The academy offers a a number of soccer opportunities at all levels of the game for children ages 6-16.  In addition, it’s open to adult players that live in the Omaha-Council Bluffs metropolitan area.  Marlon takes his own time and money and will pick up children that don’t have rides.  I really meant it when I mentioned he was a special guy.  Any parents out there that need assistance in getting their kids involved in youth soccer, please check out My Destinati!  You can learn more about the Academy and even register online by clicking here.

To add to his list of accomplishments, Marlon founded the Omaha International Soccer League (OISL) Tournament. It’s also hosted by My Destinati.  The tournament focuses on camaraderie and community building. They bring together local players from diverse backgrounds where they can represent their nation as a team.

In addition, we discuss his inspiration and his favorite soccer player.  We also get into who we think will win the Champions League, and some tidbits about the Premier League and the Italian League.
